IED - Institute of Education Development
The Institute of Education Development (IED) is set up on the basis of the Institute of Curriculum and Training (ICT). It is a public institution subsidiary to the Ministry of Education and Science (MoES).
The mission of IED is to offer expertise and high level professional counseling to the Ministry of Education and Science, and the subsidiary institutions of all levels based on the results of scholarly research and educational practices.

Key functions:
IED is composed of three directories:

1.       The directory of Educational Policy Development that:

  • Carries out research about university curriculum, master and doctorate level studies, life-long learning, and adult education
  • Carries out research about the whole educational policy-making system such as: the educational framework, curriculum designation, external and internal quality assurance tools, decentralization and deconcentration and IT integration in education

2.       The directory of Curriculum Design, Standards and Qualification that:

  • Inherits the functions of the Institute of Curriculum and Training in terms of curriculum development and qualification
  • Offers expertise and counseling for the educational institutions of all levels in the field of curriculum organization and integration as well as in terms of school management and leadership
  • Develops syllabi and standards for teachers, lecturers and local directorate heads
  • Organizes informative sessions with the target being institutions, school agents, employers and employees involved in the education system

3.       The directory of Didactics and Teaching Methodology that:

  • Pays special attention to the development of the school-based curriculum by disseminating and promoting the results gathered from the most successful local and foreign experience
  • Focus laid on the integration of modern information technology facets into the process of subject teaching-learning aiming at a successful and qualitative acquisition and application of the curriculum objectives by school actors
